Italian Anime breastplate c. 1560.

Here it is during construction. It is being held together using Clecos (a type of temporary rivet).

Here it is after articulating it. The fauld is held on using Clecos again.

Here is an inside shot showing the articulation of the back plate so far. I used sliding rivets and leathers to articulate it. I based the articulation off of a period piece.

Here is an inside shot of the breastplate. Once again, I used sliding rivets and leathers just as in the period example.

Here it is a picture of the period piece I am trying to copy. Sorry for the poor quality of the picture. I don't have a scanner and forgot to turn off the flash :).

Here it is with the pauldrons. I also removed the straps on the sides after I attached the belt. The belt alone holds it closed well enough without restricting the movement of the plates like the other straps did.

I need to make a different set of pauldrons. These were a tad smaller than I expected so I couldn't add a roped edge to the front and back edges to tie in with the rest of the theme.

Here it is basically done (have to make new, different pauldrons).

Back to main.
